- braze on, 11 speed
- Designed for MTB riding.
- Made from Alloy & Steel.
Long regarded as the most notable feature of Shimano Di2 shifting, the front derailleur performance remains the best in the industry, now with the additional capabilities of Shimano Synchronized Shift.
With XTR M9050 Di2, front shifts require the same light effort of a rear Di2 shift, reducing effort and freeing up the rider to focus on the trail. The FD-M9050 uses computer controlled auto trim as the chain moves up and down the cassette to keep the drivetrain running smoothly. Shimano Synchronized Shift compatibility allows a single shifter to control both front and rear shifting.
XTR Di2 Dyna-Sys 11-speed front derailleur's operation is pioneering, smooth shifting is guaranteed thanks to a microchip communication link with the gear levers. What's more, shifting the rear derailleur automatically trims the front derailleur. The biggest difference you will notice is just how much quicker and effortlessly smoother shifting on the front chainrings is, even under load.
The difference in the effort and time to actuate the shift between mechanical and Di2 is truly staggering. The removal of traditional mechanical cables in favour of electrical wires not only eliminates poor shifting caused by contaminates, corrosion and stretching, but provides effortless gear shifts no matter what the conditions. The front derailleur also trims automatically; the cage moves in response to the position of the rear derailleur on the cassette to ensure no chain rub and a quiet unobtrusive ride, enabling you to concentrate on the trail ahead.
Features: Synchro shift compatible meaning a single shifter can control both front and rear shifting which can be fully custom tuned to your riding preferences Braze-on fit as standard; Modular mounting allows you to choose from a range of mounting options to cater for all frame designs 11-speed E-tube Di2 compatible Triple compatible for 40T More powerful shifting than mechanical (+25% compared to M9000) Reliable gear changes under load Computer controlled auto trim Optimized Di2 cage profile and gear tracking Shimano Synchronized Shift compatible System communication with rear derailleur Advantage in all conditions Modular mounting structure... more details.

These handy devices enable you to shift gear, as well as help to keep your chain on. Otherwise known as front derailleurs, they are designed to work with a specific number of chain rings (either double or triple) and speeds (from 7/8 speed all the way up to 11). You need to establish that your new front mech will both fit your frame, as well as be suitable for your current drivetrain. If in doubt, try to replace the older model with a similar derailleur - you won't need to replace front mechs as often as rear, in some cases they can last decades! The industry leaders in this department are Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo, although companies such as FSA also produce their range of derailleurs too.
