The Giro Factor Techlace (TM) is a race-bred, super-stiff and lightweight cycling shoe weighing just 210 grams and featuring an Easton (R) EC90 SLX2 carbon fiber outsole, which is among the lightest, thinnest and stiffest pedaling platforms on the road, giving you a direct connection to the pedals and significantly bolstering power transfer. The Factor Techlace road shoe upper is made from durable, highly-breathable Evofibre SL which is soft and moulds around the form of your foot when secured with Giro's brilliant Techlace system coupled with a proven Boa dial. Recognised by cyclists around the world as one of the most adjustable, user-friendly closure systems available the Techlace provides a supple feel across the forefoot helping to avoid any pressure points while the Boa IP1 dial offers fast, intuitive adjustment in 1mm increments when tightening or loosening. Nowadays Giro are one of the largest helmet (and other cycling apparel) manufacturers in the world. They began life in the garage of Jim Gentes in 1985, California; his aim was to create a lightweight yet safe helmet, and from this goal the Giro Prolight was created. In 1994 the famous Roc-Loc system was launched, to keep the helmet in the correct position, maintaining comfort and safety. It enabled the wearer to fine tune the position of the helmet, helping to ensure a custom fit for every rider. Throughout it's history Giro has strived to create functional yet safe products, which also appear cool to encourage riders to use them. Sometimes it pays off (the Air Attack and the Xen) and sometimes not (The Fat Hat). Other innovations include the Aerohead, which helped win Greg Lemond the Tour de France by 8 seconds, and the Switchblade with removable facial protection. Nowadays Giro produce a line of cycling gloves, introduced in 2008, shoes (2010) and clothing lines (2013). In recent years Giro have introduced MIPs technology to their higher end helmets, helping to reduce the crash impact on a wearer's head and neck.
