Enduring in its popularity with Team Sky, the Thermal Pro Vest from Castelli is simple in its focus to just get the job done in genuine style. It might not boast the same levels of wind protection as other vests, but it assumes that you're pedalling your heart out and so just need plenty of heat in the core, provided by Warmer fabric. That also means that breathability ranks particularly high when you need a little extra ventilation over longer distances. Reflective heat-transfer viz strips keep you safe and seen to other road users when light is low, gripper elastic keeps everything perfectly in place, and a trio of pockets in the rear keep your essentials within easy reach at all times. 100% Polyester Warmer fabric all around 3 back pockets Gripper elastic at waist YKK (R) Vislon (R) zipper Reflective heat-transfer viz strips for visibility Suggested Temperature Range: 12 to 20 Degrees C.

In cycling terms, a gilet is a form of sleeveless vest, which usually offers protection against the wind, rain and rest of the elements. A zipper at the front provides an effective method of adjusting your body temperature, and many models also include pockets at the rear, as well as breathable panels to help cool your body further. They're a popular addition to both road & MTBers wardrobes due to their versatility and effectiveness all year round. My gilet section features all of the deals I've found online, listed in order of discount, with available sizes and colours provided where appropriate.

Castelli has a rich history as one of the iconic cycling brands, primarily specialising in high end road clothing. Founded by Vittore Gianni in 1876, initially as a tailor shop in Milan, it diversified to include cycling clothing in 1910, for riders such as Alfredo Binda. In 1935 Armando Castelli joined the company, purchasing it 4 years later. Shortly afterwards it began supplying riders such as Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi. By 1975, it was rebranded to Castelli, featuring the iconic scorpion logo, and shortly afterwards produced many revolutionary clothing products, such as the first lycra cycling shorts, windproof jerseys and thermal cycling clothing. To this day, the brand is synonymous with performance cycle wear, and together with Santini, they supply some of the greatest ex and current cyclists on the planet.
