Castelli Free Tri ITU Tri Suit
Meticulous preparation goes into your race day, but possibly even more has gone into the Castelli Free Tri Suit.
Every fabric, stitch & component has been carefully chosen & tested to make this suit fast, while remaining functional & comfortab Free is fast thanks to the wind tunnel tested, water-repellent fabrics that are utilised in its construction, for superior on-bike speed. Free helps you perform at your maximum by providing just the right level of muscle support, while keeping your body cool. All the details have been carefully thought out, like the Free aerodynamic yet high-capacity pockets, Speed Hooks that can secure your jersey and prevent it from riding up during the swimming and cycle legs, and the KISS TRI anatomical seat pad which gives more padding than your traditional tri liner, yet practically disappears on the run.
Even the back fabric shows the engineering in this garment: wind tunnel tested for on-bike speed, it also provides exceptional cooling while offering UPF 16 protection. That means that 94% of UV rays are blocked, providing a reasonable level of protection. This can be combined with sunscreen for superior protection, particularly for those with sensitive skin.
Free achieves an excellent balance between protection, cooling and outright speed. SpeedFreak ventilated race fabric on front of upper portion. Velocity Mesh back gives wind-tunnel-proven speed on the bike.
Rear 30cm YKK (R) zipper. FreeAero 2 hydro- and aero-optimized pockets. Soft-finish armholes to reduce chafing.

Triathlon Clothing differs from traditional cycling gear as it has to be flexible enough to swim and run in, as well as be comfortable for the cycling leg. As such, they tend to feature tight aerodynamic material, which is quick drying and offering little resistance to the different arm and leg movements associated with the three disciplines. For day to day cycling, you'd probably be better off with regular bib shorts and jerseys, but when racing or just practising transitions, tri clothing has the clear advantage. This website primarily concentrates on cycling equipment, but if I come across any tri deals, then I include them in my triathlon clothing section.

Castelli Triathlon Clothing
Castelli has a rich history as one of the iconic cycling brands, primarily specialising in high end road clothing. Founded by Vittore Gianni in 1876, initially as a tailor shop in Milan, it diversified to include cycling clothing in 1910, for riders such as Alfredo Binda. In 1935 Armando Castelli joined the company, purchasing it 4 years later. Shortly afterwards it began supplying riders such as Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi. By 1975, it was rebranded to Castelli, featuring the iconic scorpion logo, and shortly afterwards produced many revolutionary clothing products, such as the first lycra cycling shorts, windproof jerseys and thermal cycling clothing. To this day, the brand is synonymous with performance cycle wear, and together with Santini, they supply some of the greatest ex and current cyclists on the planet.
