The easy and aggressive shape is appreciated both from an aesthetic and a comfort perspective allowing the rider to remain in fixed position, a typical feature of this model. The Carbon FX range is now lighter and more comfortable thanks to our Biofoam padding with extraordinary technological benefits such as the being ultra-lightweight and comfortable. The Protek version comes with the added finish of silicone integrated into the cover. Silicone supports integrated in the cover and distributed in the most subject to wear area. It also increase control skills in aggressive out of the saddle riding. DNA-CARBON RAILS The crossing X shape knot (Dynamic Node Action) enables to increase the rigidity of the rail and also to reduce the weight, avoiding useless spin and torsion, without compromising the comfort. A length greater than the traditional carbon rails you can find on the market, allows one of the best adjustments of the saddle. Superleggera and Carbon FX saddles have this rail. CARBON FIBER REINFORCED SHELL Nylon with high properties, enriched with a high proportion of long carbon fibre, in order to reinforce the characteristics of rigidity, stiffness and durability without compromising the weight. BIOFOAM Biodynamic structure that follows the movements of the pelvis during pedalling, guarantees comfort, reduced weight, lasting resistance and ideal support. Merlin Cycles started life in 1993, founded by John Moss as a mail order Mountain Bike business ran directly from his spare bedroom in Chorley. Due to early growth, shortly afterwards he opened his first outlet in Ormskirk, and a few years later in 1998, the company grew into larger premises, moving to Leyland.
In the 1990's and early 2000's, Merlin were known for their ranges of mountain bike hardtails, released under the Rock Lobster and Merlin "Malt" brands. These steel and aluminium hardtails were designed in house, available as framesets or complete bikes, representing excellent value for money. The company was also well known for their handbuilt MTB wheels, which in my experience lasted for years without needing truing!
Merlin have always been competitive on pricing, particularly on suspension forks, brakes, wheels and groupsets, which continues to this day. Nowadays they have introduced road cycling equipment and clothing into their product ranges, due to the increase in popularity in this field, thus catering for a broader range of cyclists.
