Merlin Inferno Disc Road Bike
The Merlin Inferno has been designed and built for out and out speed. Sprints, descents, time trial or triathlon this aero road bike is ready to perform. The Silhouette of our new Inferno is dominated by the wide aerodynamic lower tube with its "Kamm-tail" shape and is complemented by lowered seatstays for even more efficiency in the wind, these ultra-thin seatsatys reduce air resistance while providing some compliancy for an even more comfortable ride. The seatpost on the Merlin Inferno can be rotated 180 degrees to allow you to dramatically adjust your fore and aft position on the bike making it ideal for time trialists and triathletes while the addition of hydraulic disc brakes ensures braking remains predictable and consistent regardless of the weather and road conditions. Thru axles on the front and rear mean that wheel location is always accurate so that brake pads and brake rotors always align perfectly while also increasing stiffness and steering precision. The Merlin Inferno frame is compatible with mechanical and electronic groupsets; all cables run neatly through the frame tubes with the hydraulic cable for the front disc brake also running inside the front fork and we have completed the Inferno specification with the brilliant Shimano Ultegra R8020 11 speed hydraulic disc brake groupset. A choice of Fulcrum or Mavic wheels and other great finishing components lets you customise the finer details of this great handling carbon road bike before our Merlin workshop technicians custom build your bike to your own spec. Choose your preferred wheels & tyres, stem-length, handlebar profile, cassette, chainring options and more to tailor your dream disc brake carbon road bike specifically for you. Whether you want to beat the competition at your weekly crit race, are looking to improve your bike split at that upcoming triathlon or just want to enjoy the ultimate aero road bike on the open road the Merlin Inferno with Ultegra R8020 11 speed hydraulic disc brake groupset is a high-value, cutting-edge road bike that's built ready to help enhance your performance. About Merlin Cycles
This cycling deal was found at Merlin Cycles, one of the UK's most famous bike shops, located up North!
Merlin Cycles started life in 1993, founded by John Moss as a mail order Mountain Bike business ran directly from his spare bedroom in Chorley. Due to early growth, shortly afterwards he opened his first outlet in Ormskirk, and a few years later in 1998, the company grew into larger premises, moving to Leyland.
In the 1990's and early 2000's, Merlin were known for their ranges of mountain bike hardtails, released under the Rock Lobster and Merlin "Malt" brands. These steel and aluminium hardtails were designed in house, available as framesets or complete bikes, representing excellent value for money. The company was also well known for their handbuilt MTB wheels, which in my experience lasted for years without needing truing!
Merlin have always been competitive on pricing, particularly on suspension forks, brakes, wheels and groupsets, which continues to this day. Nowadays they have introduced road cycling equipment and clothing into their product ranges, due to the increase in popularity in this field, thus catering for a broader range of cyclists.
