The Shimano XT/FSA drivetrain is the perfect combination of performance and durability, with the XT shadow plus rear derailleur to cancel out the chain slap, all powered by SLX shifters. The 1x11 speed system is driven by a set of FSA Comet cranks, with their forged alloy arms and a 30t narrow wide chainring to reduce weight and maintain strength. All of these will ensure the classic Shimano reliable shifting and performance but keep you supported when battling the mountains.Shimano Hydraulic Brakes. One of the world's most iconic bike brands, GT was formed in 1972, taking it's name from the initials of founder Gary Turner. His first product was a custom made BMX frame for his son, and it's durability made it a hit on the SoCal BMX tracks. As a result of this, Gary started producing BMX frames for general sale from 1974 onwards. By 1987, GT moved into the emerging mountain biking discipline, and shortly afterwards started manufacturing it's distinctive triple triangle design hardtails, which are still made to this day. By 1999 GT have developed the i-Drive suspension system, which proved popular amongst off-roaders. Further innovations included the Downhill IT-1 complete with built in gearbox, a world's first. From 2007 production began on 29" wheel MTBs, and the introduction of carbon in the build process. Nowadays GT caters for Road, Cyclocross and MTBs, as well as a range of BMXs in keeping with it's history. Famous riders to have competed on GT bikes include Hans Rey, Steve Peat, Brian Lopes, the Atherton siblings (Gee, Dan & Rachel), Rebecca Twigg and Juli Furtado.

I originally found this deal at Wiggle, who are widely established as one of the biggest cycle retailers in the UK. The first incarnation of this giant was as a small bike shop based in Portsmouth, named Butler Cycles. A few years later this evolved into Bikes @ Butlers to highlight their intentions to move the business online with the .com boom and subsequent rise in online sales. At the end of May in 1999 Wiggle.co.uk was launched by Mitch Dall and Harvey Jones. A rapid growth resulted in a need to move premises, and so in 2002 it relocated to Jackson Close, Portsmouth. This strong growth continued, and Wiggle has relocated twice since, the first being to Lakeside 1000, and then leaving Pompey altogether for a huge warehouse located centrally in Wolverhampton. Similarly to CRC, Wiggle stock many own brands, such as dhb, Eastway, Lifeline and Verenti, as well as bike, components and clothing from all of the leading manufacturers. Despite it's origins as a bike shop, Wiggle continue to stock equipment and apparel for not just road cycling and mountain biking, with extensive product lines for other disciplines such as triathlon kit, children's and commuters products and also running clothing and accessories.
